CRB Checks

Many members have applied for CRB checks through BSAC at no cost to us.

Full instructions for applying for a check and filling in the form can be found in BOA documents on the web site 'CRB Checks Procedures and Policies'

A list of members who have been checked and are authorised to hold positions of responsibility within the BOA can be found on our web site under the heading 'Coaches and Referees' 'CRB Authorised Members'

Please Note!!

The CRB application form is changing on 1st March 2013.

If you have a current form it must be submitted before 28th February or it will not be accepted.

Referee Courses

Excel Compressors are printing the referee course manuals saving us quite a lot of money.

If you or any-one you know is able to use Excel Compressors then please ensure the BOA is mentioned which will help secure further sponsorship.

Referee courses are paid from the BOA Sports Development Fund at no cost to members so this sponsorship will help us to run more courses in the future.

We don't just run a series of courses, we rely on a local team or group to organise a referee course and we supply the tutor and course literature.

When a course is being run we try to advertise it in case some-one else wants to fill spare places. The ideal number of candidates is about 12 but this is not fixed.

The BOA will pay any costs for renting a room but we do try to keep this to a minimum by using facilities scrounged by the local organiser.

Referee courses are a full day 09.00 to 5pm in a classroom with pc projection facilities to show a power-point presentation.

The day is rounded off with an exam to test that candidates have listened a little bit to what has been taught.

Practice in the pool is usually gained by understudying a qualified referee in BOA tournament games but sometimes if a pool session is convenient the day can be rounded off with a bit of wet refereeing.

A list of qualified referees and coaches can be found on the BOA web site under 'Coaches and Referees' 'Qualified Members'

You can also check your own logged qualifications and refereeing time by clicking on 'Profile' while logged onto the BOA web site.

If you wish to organise a course then contact referee(at)gbuwh.co.uk (replacing (at) with @)

Student Nationals

The Student Nationals are being held in Llandudno on Saturday 9th March 2013.

The BOA will be supporting this tournament by sending qualified referees to help out.

We already have some volunteers but if you are able to come along and help referee this will be greatly appreciated.
